Sangik Bae is an Associate in the Chicago Office of Ladas & Parry.
Sangik focuses his practice on patent matters including preparation and prosecution of patent applications. Sangik also prepares legal opinions regarding patent validity, patentability, and infringement and freedom-to-operate opinions. Sangik specializes in a broad range of electrical and computer software technologies, including mobile devices, electrical communications, digital communications, telecommunications, data processing, image processing, signal processing, semiconductors, and computer architecture.
Prior to joining Ladas & Parry LLP, Sangik received his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law. During law school, Sangik was a legal intern for the Honorable Bernard A. Friedman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the Honorable Rosemarie E. Aquilina of the 30th Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan, and the Honorable Thomas P. Boyd of the 55th Judicial District Court. Sangik also worked as a summer associate at an international Korean law firm in Seoul, South Korea. As an article editor and an editorial board member of Michigan State International Law Review, Sangik participated in selecting, editing, and publishing articles.
Before entering the legal profession, Sangik worked at Samsung SDS, a major Korean Information Technology (IT) company. As a software engineer, he analyzed complex business transactions for Samsung Electronics and implemented new and innovative business models in its IT system.
Sangik has provided pro bono legal services in the area of bankruptcy and military justice.
